Job summary

Searchability is seeking a Senior QA Engineer in Birmingham. You will own quality across the project, designing and maintaining automated tests, and integrating them into CI/CD. You’ll also mentor junior QAs and work with developers to ensure a quality-first SDLC.

The role requires hands-on test automation with Playwright or Selenium, plus JavaScript/Python/Java scripting. Hybrid working is available with two days in Birmingham and a performance-driven bonus up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in software testing and QA.
• Excellent test automation experience.
• Experience with Playwright, Selenium, JUnit or TestNG.
• Automation scripting experience with JavaScript, Python or Java.
• Strong knowledge of test planning, test case design and execution.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coaching or mentoring other QA Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own quality within the project team and hands-on test planning, automation, execution and improvement.
• Design and maintain automated test scripts and contribute to the automation framework.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and run across non-functional testing.
• Coach or mentor other QA Engineers and collaborate with Developers to embed quality.
• Lead regression, performance, and load testing activities as part of releases.

£55,000 depending on experience

THE SENIOR QA ENGINEER ROLE

As a Senior QA Engineer, you'll own quality within your project team, this means taking on a hands-on role across test planning, automation, execution and continuous improvement.

You will be designing and maintaining automated test scripts, help develop the wider automation framework and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. As part of your role you will also cover areas including regression, performance, load and wider non-functional testing.

Alongside hands-on delivery, as a Senior you'll coach other QA Engineers and work closely with Developers to embed a quality-first approach throughout the software development lifecycle.
