Bright Purple Resourcing is recruiting an Electronics QA Engineer for an Aberdeen-based Electronics R&D team. This opportunity is suited to an engineer who enjoys investigating failures, improving product reliability and helping electronic systems perform consistently in demanding environments.
Bright Purple Resourcing is proud to work with organisations that value engineering excellence, diversity and inclusion. The client is a global leader in wireless downhole technology, supplying precision data systems to the oil and gas industry. Its electronics operate thousands of metres below the surface, where extreme heat, immense pressure and limited opportunities for intervention make reliability essential. The company combines a close-knit, supportive culture with the reach and resources of a global operation. It invests in its people, encourages internal progression, supports further education and trusts employees to manage their work effectively.
As Electronics QA Engineer, you will join the client’s Aberdeen-based Electronics R&D team and help ensure its products continue to perform in high-reliability, high-temperature applications. This is an office-based position with flexible working. You will investigate product and component failures, determine their underlying causes and translate your findings into practical engineering improvements. Working across engineering, production and quality, you will help strengthen processes, manage technical risks and support the development of durable electronics. Your work will contribute directly to systems expected to deliver accurate data in some of the most challenging operating environments.
You will hold a degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline and bring a background in electronic design or testing. You should be analytical, methodical and genuinely motivated by solving complex technical problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, as you will prepare technical reports, document findings and work with colleagues across different functions. Experience in failure analysis, accelerated life testing or high-temperature electronics would be valuable. Knowledge of electronic component packaging, printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing or relevant database tools is also beneficial. You should be open to occasional travel when required and comfortable balancing independent investigation with collaborative problem-solving.
Investigate failures in electronic products and components, identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Qualify electronic components for use in high-temperature, high-reliability applications, assessing their suitability against relevant engineering needs. Identify component obsolescence and supply chain risks early, helping the business plan appropriate responses and avoid disruption. Support improvements in PCB manufacturing through hands-on testing of electronics and materials. Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve reliability issues and turn technical findings into effective changes. Develop, maintain and update technical documentation so that risks, test outcomes, decisions and improvement actions remain visible and well managed. Apply a rigorous, evidence-led approach throughout investigations, while communicating conclusions clearly to both technical and cross-functional colleagues.
The salary range for this position is £40,000–£60,000, depending on experience.
Bright Purple Resourcing is an equal opportunities employer and is proud to work with clients who share a commitment to diversity and inclusion across the industry. Applications are welcomed from people with relevant skills and experience, regardless of background.
