Job summary

Methods Business and Digital Technology is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. You will design, develop and maintain automated tests for APIs, user journeys and integrations using Java, Serenity BDD, Cucumber, Selenium WebDriver and REST Assured.

You will work with developers, analysts and product owners to define acceptance criteria, build maintainable automation frameworks and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java programming skills with automated test code.
• Experience with Serenity BDD, Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium WebDriver and REST Assured.
• Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, auth, validation and error handling.
• Experience testing distributed/microservice apps with asynchronous processing.
• Ability to verify complete business workflows across service boundaries.
• SQL and logs used to prepare test data, investigate failures and validate results.
• Experience with Maven, Git, pull requests and automated build pipelines.
• Experience integrating tests in Azure DevOps YAML pipelines or similar CI/CD.
• Knowledge of test isolation, parallel execution and flaky tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated API, integration and end-to-end tests using Java and related tools.
• Contribute to reusable test components and maintainable automation frameworks, with code reviews.
• Define testable acceptance criteria with stakeholders and outline test scenarios.
• Select appropriate test levels balancing coverage, time and maintenance.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and provide feedback.
• Test asynchronous workflows and event-driven interactions between services.
• Verify business outcomes through APIs, DB checks and user journeys.
• Create repeatable test data and manage environment dependencies.
• Investigate failures using logs, responses and DB queries; triage defects.
