Job summary

Henderson Brown Recruitment is partnering with a leading food manufacturer to recruit a meticulous QA Auditor. The role focuses on safeguarding food safety and quality, ensuring products meet retailer, customer, and regulatory standards.

You will investigate issues, drive improvements, and maintain audit-ready processes. Based in Sherburn in Elmet, the role operates on rotating weekly shifts, including nights and afters, contributing to continuous improvement and Right First Time performance

Qualifications

• Previous experience as QA Auditor in food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of retailer standards, HACCP, GMP, and food safety legislation.
• Level 2 Food Safety and Level 2 HACCP qualifications.
• Excellent attention to detail with administrative and IT skills including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits including GMP, Glass & Hard Plastic, hygiene, and food safety inspections; ensure compliance with BRCGS, retailer and customer standards.
• Investigate quality incidents, customer complaints, and non-conformances; use root cause analysis to implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Manage calibration programmes, microbiological testing schedules, ATP and allergen verification; ensure food safety controls remain effective.
• Support daily taste panels, maintain technical documentation, and prepare accurate records for audits.
• Assess and manage non-conforming products; authorise rework, product holds, waivers, and release activities within procedures.
• Carry out inspections of incoming raw materials and chocolate tankers; ensure products meet quality and safety requirements before production.
• Deliver CCP training and promote a strong food safety culture across manufacturing operations.
• Monitor quality trends and collaborate with Production, Technical, and Engineering to drive continuous improvement.

Nights: Sunday: 18:00 - 06:00 / Monday - Thursday: 22:00 - 06:00

Afters: Monday - Thursday: 14:00 - 22:00

Days: Monday - Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00 / Friday: 06:00 - 18:00

What You'll Be Doing:

• Conduct a range of internal audits including GMP, Glass & Hard Plastic, hygiene, and food safety inspections, ensuring compliance with BRCGS, retailer, and customer standards
• Investigate quality incidents, customer complaints, and non-conformances, using root cause analysis to implement robust corrective and preventative actions
• Manage calibration programmes, microbiological testing schedules, ATP and allergen verification, ensuring all food safety controls remain effective
• Support daily taste panels, maintain technical documentation, and prepare accurate records to support customer, retailer, and third-party audits
• Assess and manage non-conforming products, authorising rework, product holds, waivers, and release activities in line with company procedures
• Carry out inspections of incoming raw materials and chocolate tankers, ensuring products meet quality and food safety requirements before production
• Deliver Critical Control Point (CCP) training and promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the manufacturing operation
• Monitor quality trends and collaborate with Production, Technical, and Engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and Right First Time performance

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience as a QA Auditor, Quality Assurance Technician, or Quality Auditor within food manufacturing or FMCG
• Strong knowledge of retailer standards, HACCP, GMP, food safety legislation, and internal auditing practices
• Level 2 Food Safety and Level 2 HACCP qualifications (or equivalent)
• Excellent attention to detail with strong administrative and IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence colleagues, deliver training, and work collaboratively across multiple departments
