Job summary

Somerset Larder is seeking a Quality Assurance Assistant to audit, monitor and continuously improve quality systems across all operations at our Bridgwater site. You will support ground teams with practical technical guidance while upholding food safety and allergen controls in line with SALSA and legal requirements.

The role emphasises robust allergen management, cross-contamination prevention and accurate labelling, with audits, investigations and continuous improvement at its core.

Qualifications

• Must hold Food Safety Level 2+ and HACCP certification, or achieve within 30 days.
• Allergen management certification or plan to obtain within 30 days.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Previous QA/food safety experience with SALSA, HACCP and hygiene standards.
• Hospitality and catering operations knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Audit, monitor and improve quality systems and procedures.
• Provide practical technical support while promoting quality and food safety.
• Focus on allergen management, cross-contamination prevention and labelling accuracy.
• Support with complaints, incidents or out-of-spec results to identify root causes.
• Contribute to Technical KPI delivery through audits and investigations.
• Carry out internal audits to ensure HACCP compliance and traceability.
