Job summary

Millennium seeks a Python Software Engineer to develop intraday trading analytics and real-time market data solutions. You will partner with R&D and application teams to build a high-performance portfolio management platform and support intraday analytics across risk systems.

The role requires 5+ years in Python, strong Linux skills, and experience with real-time architectures, messaging, caching, and modern deployment tools like Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python application development experience.
• Strong Linux OS knowledge.
• Experience with real-time analytics and market data solutions.
• Experience with grid scheduling and compute orchestration (SLURM).
• Familiarity with messaging and caching systems (Kafka, Solace, Pulsar, Memcache, Redis).
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, ELK).
• Knowledge of databases including SQL, NoSQL, time-series (Kdb).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; cloud platforms is a plus.

Meet the Team

Core to the health and growth of Millennium’s business, the Information Technology organization develops flexible, scalable technology and advanced proprietary systems, including the next generation of analytical and trading capabilities. Within this organization, EQRT Services (PM Tools) is a front-office team responsible for the design, development, and support of technology platforms that enable the business to research and develop strategies, create simulated trade books, run backtests, and assess risk and factor analytics across live and paper portfolios on an intraday and end-of-day basis.

What You'll Do

• Partner closely with R&D and application development teams to research, design, prototype, and implement next-generation high-performance real-time analytics and market data solutions
• Help build and enhance a market-leading portfolio management platform in close partnership with business users
• Develop and support intraday analytics platforms used across the firm’s risk and portfolio management systems
• Work across a range of technologies to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions for real-time trading and analytics workflows
• Contribute to application development, project delivery, and platform architecture for highly scalable real-time systems

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in Python application development, with a strong understanding of Linux operating systems
• Experience with grid scheduling and compute orchestration for real-time compute management at scale, including technologies such as SLURM
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and experience with messaging and caching technologies such as Kafka, Solace, Pulsar, Memcache, and Redis
• Experience building AI RAG and MCP agents
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and the ELK stack
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, including advanced SQL, NoSQL, and time-series databases such as Kdb
• Excellent grasp of data structures and algorithms, with the ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly
• Strong interest in financial markets and working directly with investment professionals; experience with large-scale real-time portfolio analytics tools, cloud platforms, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, or multi-threaded C++ is a plus
