Python Developer - R - 12 month contract - Glasgow (hybrid - 3 days onsite)
We are looking for an experienced Python developer to work with a team of global experts, developers, data scientists, and technical leaders to create standardised development practices, integrate industry-leading tools, and build internal solutions as required.
A key aspect of this role involves serving as the main point of contact for the firm's R language user community, assisting data scientists, researchers, and analysts in setting up and troubleshooting their environments, evaluating libraries, and creating user-friendly documentation. You will also develop automated solutions to streamline these processes.
I am therefore keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Excellent hands-on skills in Python development.
- Experience or willingness to develop expertise in R.
- Familiarity with development tools, IDEs, and interactive notebooks (eg, Jupyter).
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience of working on Linux platforms
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to lead technical delivery and act as a primary technical contact.
- Knowledge of containerisation platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes would be an advantage.
- Understanding of Windows-based development.
