Job summary

Orbis Group in London is seeking a Risk Software Engineer to design Python-based applications for risk analytics and reporting. You will build and maintain ETL pipelines and design data models for high-performance analytical databases.

You will contribute to migrating legacy systems to a modern data platform, optimise batch and real-time analytics, and collaborate with risk managers and engineers to deliver robust tooling for front-office stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering foundation with commercial development experience.
• Experience building backend applications in Python or similar language.
• Exposure to ETL pipelines and data engineering.
• Strong SQL and database design skills.
• Familiarity with analytics databases and data platforms.
• Understanding of CI/CD and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based applications that support risk analytics and reporting.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines to ingest, transform and enrich large financial datasets.
• Design efficient data models for high-performance analytical databases.
• Contribute to the migration from legacy technologies to a modern data platform.
• Optimise reporting and analytics for both batch and real-time workloads.
• Work closely with Risk Managers and engineering teams to develop tools that solve complex business problems.
• Help shape the future architecture of the firm's risk technology estate.
