Job summary

Le Rotherham Foundation Trust recherche des bénévoles pour le programme Purple Butterfly, offrant une formation spécialisée pour soutenir les patients en fin de vie. Ce rôle consistera à fournir companionship et réconfort aux patients ainsi qu'un soutien essentiel à leurs familles dans un cadre hospitalier. Les bénévoles s'engageront pour un minimum de trois heures par semaine et participeront à des événements de formation.

Qualifications

  • Capacité à travailler avec des patients et des familles ayant un diagnostic palliatif.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière indépendante ou en équipe.
  • Expérience de bénévolat dans un cadre hospitalier souhaitée.

Responsibilities

  • Offrir de la compagnie et du réconfort aux patients en fin de vie.
  • Soutenir les familles des patients, en particulier ceux qui ne peuvent pas visiter.
  • Aider à améliorer l'environnement de travail sur un service.

Job description

The Rotherham Foundation Trust is looking to recruit further Purple Butterfly Volunteers. These volunteers will receive specialist training from our trust to enable them to offer a support network to patients receiving End-of-life care at Rotherham hospital.

This training will be ongoing while a Volunteer remains with The Rotherham Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Offering dying patients company and comfort as they approach the end of their life.
  • Supporting patients' families, especially those unable to visit or needing respite.
  • Understanding available services to provide the best support.
  • Helping to improve the working environment on a ward by ensuring staff and families have a support network.

You will need to provide a minimum of 3 hours per week. Service hours are currently 10am-1pm & 1pm-4pm, Monday to Friday, with potential for development.

This role is Trust-wide, supporting all inpatient wards as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all groups.

  • Ability to work with ward staff and other volunteers, independently or as part of a team.
  • Work within role and organizational boundaries.
  • Experience volunteering or working with patients and families with a palliative diagnosis.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A disclosure application will be made to check for any criminal convictions.
