About Us:

We are a growing SME specialising in the manufacture of high precision fabricated and machined components for the Motorsport and Automotive industries. We’re committed to high-quality output, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchaser to manage the procurement of materials, components and sub-contract processes essential to our business.

Role Overview:

As our Purchasing Manager, you will use your skills and experience to source, order and track timely delivery ensuring parts and materials required for manufacturing operations are efficiently sourced to meet deadline, quality and best value criteria.

You will manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and work to continuously reduce costs, where possible, and improve supplier performance.

This is a key role; ensuring our production runs smoothly and profitably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management
  • Purchase all necessary parts, materials, sub-contract services & consumables required for production.
  • Ensure materials arrive on time, matching required quantity, within budget.
  • Track and manage purchase orders, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Maintain regular communication with existing suppliers to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with key suppliers.
  • Handle any supply issues proactively to avoid production disruptions.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports on supplier performance, including OTIF (On Time In Full), pricing, and highlight quality / on-time delivery issues.
  • Maintain procurement KPIs and identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Cost and Efficiency Improvements.
  • Continuously explore new suppliers and alternative sourcing strategies to reduce costs and improve quality or lead times.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., production, design, quality) to ensure procurement aligns with operational requirements.
  • Inventory & Systems Management.
  • Work in conjunction with the stores and production team to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Accurately record and update procurement data within the ERP or MRP system.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Confident with data analysis and report .
  • Experience with MRP software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
