Purchasing Officer

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire - on site with some opportunities to work from home

Salary: £24,951 - £28,000 plus excellent benefits

Career Level: B

Hours: 37.5 per week

Mon - Fri 8:30am- 5pm

Your role with us:

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join the Charity's Operational Purchasing department. Reporting directly Purchasing Team Leader, you will support all purchasing aspects of the Procurement process, from sourcing products and suppliers, to managing stock and purchase orders.

Key Responsibilities:
• To ensure purchasing activity is undertaken in line with the Charity's financial and procurement policies and procedures at all St Andrew's Healthcare locations.
• To provide a high-quality pro-active purchasing customer service to all St Andrew's internal customers.
• To ensure accurate and timely processing of customer requisitions and enquiries in line with performance indicator targets.
• To ensure all purchasing records are kept up-to-date, accessible and retained in line with St Andrew's retention of records requirements for audit purposes.
• To ensure value for money is obtained at all times through competitive sourcing, advising internal customers on cost saving/avoidance opportunities.
• To liaise with the Main Stores to ensure timely delivery of both stock and non-stock products.
• To liaise with the Payables Team to ensure swift resolution of invoice queries and to expedite other purchase order/finance system-related issues in a timely manner.
• To use procurement purchasing cards for specific supply chain transactions in line with procurement policy, reconciling accounts at each month end.
• To act as the key source of guidance on all Purchasing issues for defined areas, providing advice and one-to-one training on Procurement functionality as and when required.
• To obtain quotations from suppliers ensuring St Andrew's terms & conditions of contract apply to subsequent contracts/purchase orders.
• To expedite outstanding orders with suppliers in a timely manner.
• To maintain Excel and other information databases as required.

About you:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, being able to quickly build rapport with people.
• Good understanding of suppliers and supply chains.
• Intermediate understanding of Excel (vLook ups, Pivot tables, Basic Formulas).
• Computer literate, with basic understanding of Microsoft Office software.
• Experience of working in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain environment.
• Comfortable with a high level of autonomy & decision making.
• Professional, confident & organised.
