A well-established manufacturing organisation is actively seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team on a permanent basis in Hemel Hempstead. The company offers a salary of up to £50,000.

The Purchasing Manager will lead the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and components vital for production. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional eager to advance their career within a dynamic and growing manufacturing business.

Role responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager include:

  • Managing supplier relationships through regular performance reviews, audits, and site visits
  • Overseeing inventory held by third-party suppliers
  • Conducting spend analysis and proactively collaborating with supply chain partners
  • Leading and managing the procurement team on a daily basis
  • Monitoring and controlling freight and shipping costs within the UK, EU, and beyond
  • Managing project-based purchasing activities
  • Driving process improvements aligned with business objectives
  • Overseeing stock levels of repeat order items via MRP systems

Person Specification of the Purchasing Manager:

  • Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing a team in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong negotiation and influencing abilities
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work calmly and professionally under pressure

Salary: Up to £50,000

This position requires full onsite presence.
