Purchasing Manager / Buyer

Location:Hartlepool - Onsite

Salary:£35,000 – £42,000 + Pension

Are you ready to take the next step in your purchasing career? Due to an upcoming retirement, we’re seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as aPurchasing Manager / Buyer. This is a pivotal role at Bridgman IBC Ltd, directly contributing to our ongoing growth and success in the timber and doorsets industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate & Innovate:Work closely with our current Purchasing Manager to learn the ropes, share insights, and help shape our purchasing strategies.
  • Drive Efficiencies:Develop and refine processes to improve workflow and efficiency across the department.
  • Supplier Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favourable terms, and ensure timely delivery of quality materials.
  • Data & Process Excellence:Utilise your expertise in ERP systems and Excel to manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and maintain accurate records.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:Liaise with our estimating and contracts teams to provide accurate material costs and support project delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement:Identify new suppliers and products, and stay informed about industry trends and innovations.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a buyer or purchasing role within the timber or doorsets industry.
  • Strong background in developing new processes and driving operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent understanding of ERP systems and Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive, organised approach with great attention to detail.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, negotiating terms, and handling challenges with material flow.
  • Ability to monitor and manage inventory, including annual stock checks.

Desirable:

  • Degree or CIPS qualification.
  • Knowledge of FSC/PEFC, BM Trada Q Mark, ISO14001 & 9001 audit processes.
  • Awareness of the latest trends and innovations in the timber industry.
