Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk

The Opportunity
We are recruiting a highly organised and detail-driven Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a successful and growing business based just outside Tewkesbury. You will be working in a small, friendly finance team that prides itself on its positive culture. This role offers the chance to work in a varied and fast-paced environment, with responsibility across multiple departments and entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing:
- Handling high volumes of purchase invoices (up to 1,000 per month)
- Using AutoEntry software to process invoices efficiently and accurately
- Verifying invoice data and ensuring correct authorisation and coding
- Ledger Management:
- Maintaining accurate supplier records in Sage 50
- Creating new supplier accounts and verifying bank details via telephone
- Managing and monitoring the purchase ledger inbox throughout the day
- Ensuring invoices are distributed for authorisation and payment requests are diarised
- Payment Processing:
- Preparing and processing monthly supplier payment runs
- Creating payment files via Sage 50 s E-Payment function for bank upload
- Generating and sending remittance advice to suppliers
- Reconciliations & Journals:
- Completing monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Performing bank reconciliations using Sage s reconcile function
- Managing and maintaining direct debits via the recurring items function
- Processing intercompany journals and managing intercompany transactions
- Reporting & Administration:
- Exporting reports from Sage and sorting data in Excel
- Collating monthly supplier payment totals for sign-off
- Responding promptly and professionally to supplier queries
What We re Looking For
- Proven experience in a high-volume purchase ledger role
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and AutoEntry
- Understanding of nominal ledger codes, including cost vs asset coding and departmental codes
- Experience working across multiple companies or departments
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for reporting and data management
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
