Job description

Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our construction services client seeks an experienced individual to join them as a Purchase Ledger Clerk, on a temporary basis to start ASAP, lasting approximately 6-8 weeks.

This job would suit an immediately available finance professional to be responsible for supporting the accounts payable function during a system migration, with a specific focus on invoice processing using the Coins system.

This well-established business supports major projects across the UK. As they transition to a new finance system, they require an extra pair of hands in the Hemel Hempstead finance team to maintain invoicing accuracy and continuity.

The successful individual will have at least 2 years' purchase ledger experience, including essential knowledge of the Coins accounting system. You must be confident handling invoice matching, reconciliations, and BACS payments, with strong attention to detail. Experience in construction or project-based industries is desirable.

Job responsibilities:

  • Process purchase invoices, matching to relevant POs and delivery notes using Coins
  • Manage invoice queries and liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Reconcile supplier statements and assist with monthly purchase summaries
  • Assist in BACS payment runs and ensure timely processing of expenses
  • Set up new supplier accounts and maintain accurate records
  • Support the finance team during the Coins system rollout
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers
  • Prioritise workload to meet weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Provide additional support to the Financial Controller as required during this transition
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of records throughout the contract period
