Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Ledger Clerk to support our finance department. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts payable operations, ensuring that invoices are processed promptly, and maintaining accurate financial records. Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of AP mailbox and processing purchase invoices in a timely manner.
- Processing MasterCard transactions and obtaining receipts internally.
- Ensure accurate coding of invoices and set up payment within agreed terms.
- Maintain the accounts payable ledger and monitor any discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures and accruals.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by the finance team.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure efficient processing of invoices.
- Support with audit preparation and provide documentation as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience:
- Proven experience within a busy Finance Team in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial controls.
- An understanding of deferred expenses.
Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to detail – precise data entry is crucial.
- Communication skills – confidence to liaise internally with procurement managers for clarity around invoicing; effective communication when requesting receipts from MC holders.
- Organisational skills – ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines, particularly around month-end.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of VAT would be desirable.
- Knowledge of Business Central / NAV would be beneficial.
- Working towards an AAT qualification or equivalent – not essential.
This role is a hybrid work setting (we currently request two days per week in the Glasgow office, G1 1RE).
