Job description

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk

Location: Carlisle, UK

Company Overview:

Kenton Black Finance has partnered with a Carlisle-based organisation with over 30 years of operation. Recently privatized and backed by significant investment, the company is expanding regionally. They are seeking a full-time Purchase Ledger Clerk to support their finance team.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Code and post supplier invoices and credit notes using cloud-based software and Pegasus Opera.
  2. Ensure accuracy in data entry and coding.
  3. Match invoices with purchase orders and goods received notes.
  4. Liaise with managers for invoice approvals.
  5. Set up and maintain supplier accounts.
  6. Perform supplier statement reconciliations.
  7. Communicate with suppliers regarding invoicing and payments.
  8. Prepare payment reports for BACS processing.
  9. Handle month-end purchase order accruals.
  10. Meet month-end deadlines and targets.
  11. Ensure compliance with finance policies.
  12. Collaborate with the finance team and other stakeholders to ensure efficient invoice processing.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a purchase ledger clerk or similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Accounting Technician qualification (AAT Level 3) or similar is desirable but not essential.
