Job summary

New Horizons Primary School in the United Kingdom is seeking a proactive Behaviour & Support Officer to help ensure every child feels supported, safe and ready to learn. You will work with the SENCo and pastoral team to provide targeted support and help children overcome barriers to learning.

You will build trusted relationships with pupils, parents and external agencies, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing activities within the school community.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children or young people in an education, pastoral, behaviour, SEND or similar setting would be an advantage.
• You will work closely with parents and carers, colleagues and external agencies to support pupils’ wellbeing.
• You will be calm, approachable and able to build strong relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one mentoring, informal pastoral support and targeted interventions to help pupils manage their behaviour and engage positively with learning.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality and reinforce the school’s positive behaviour and rewards approach.
• Support pupils during transition times, break and lunchtimes, responding appropriately to individual needs and situations.
• Work closely with parents and carers, colleagues and relevant external agencies to support pupils’ wellbeing.
• Support the SENCo, Behaviour Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead with appropriate pastoral and administrative activities.
