Salary: £24,889 - £25,302 per year pro rata

Contract Type: Temporary

Polkemmet Primary School is a non-denominational school that serves the community in the West of Whitburn. During session 2024/25 the school roll of 222 is organised over 8 classes in the primary school plus morning, full day and afternoon Early Learning and Childcare sessions.

The school has an excellent relationship with cluster schools, the local community, and the local church. A significant number of our children have barriers to learning and the school works hard to identify and overcome these, priding itself on providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for our children and their families. We believe that children, ‘have to be well, to do well’ and that we can empower them to “be all they can be”.

Our school values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be Confident, Responsible, Effective, and Successful citizens.

The Pupil Support worker will work specifically with identified groups of children to improve the wellbeing and attainment through focused group work.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
