Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to work at Craigroyston Primary School. The role involves 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, with a pro-rata salary of £26,806–£27,032.

You will support pupils with additional needs, provide personal care, administer medication, and help create a safe, nurturing school environment. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist with learning activities, recording progress, and supporting transitions and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with additional support needs.
• Willingness to join PVG scheme and undergo pre-employment checks.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the school team to ensure pupil health, safety and welfare; raise safeguarding concerns as needed.
• Provide 1-1 and small-group support to pupils with additional support needs.
• Provide personal care to children while promoting independence and safety.
• Administer medication and complete related paperwork following training and procedures.
• Assist with moving and handling to support pupil mobility.
• Support learning activities, including reading interventions and group sessions.
• Contribute to pupil learning plans and record-keeping for reviews.
• Assist with transitions between schools and supervise pupils during school activities.
• Supervise playground activities and participate in required training and development.
