Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a Casual Pupil Support Assistant to work across various locations in Dumfries and Galloway. Band 5 rate is £15.35 per hour, reflecting casual hours in supporting pupils with learning needs.

The role focuses on building relationships, assisting participation in lessons, promoting independence, and supporting personal skills while ensuring pupils feel safe and ready to learn.

Qualifications

• Must be educated to SCQF Level 4 or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy.
• Experience of working with children/young people; advantageous if they have additional needs experience.
• Willingness to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Build strong and trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Help them take part in lessons and encourage independence, including personal care.
• Support them in learning new skills and help them make friends to feel safe, happy and ready to learn.
