Job summary

Ashgate Croft School in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to assist teachers and support staff in delivering care and education to pupils with learning difficulties.

You will help pupils with personal care needs, follow therapy programmes under guidance, and support classroom activities. Flexible hours available as Full-Time (32.5 hours) or Part-Time during 39 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• Experience in care settings or support roles preferred.
• Ability to support pupils with personal care needs.
• Ability to follow therapy programmes under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils’ personal care needs including toileting and feeding.
• Assist with prescribed therapy programmes under guidance.
• Help teachers with classroom preparation and activities.

Ashgate Croft is a large and complex area special school. We provide education and care for pupils with learning difficulties, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties and associated communication, behavioural and physical needs, and we follow a bespoke curriculum in order to meet each child's needs which is informed by the EQUALS curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint a Pupil Support Assistant to provide support and guidance to other Teaching Assistants/Pupil Support Assistants as needed. You will be responsible for supporting pupils’ personal care needs by assisting them with toileting, changing, gastrostomy feeding and eating programmes. You will be required to carry out prescribed therapy programmes under the guidance of therapists and teacher and to assist teachers with general classroom preparation.
