Responsibilities

  • Handle non-strategic matters that maintain scholarly journals: prepare new agreements, update internal systems, request payments, and maintain journal records.
  • Prepare materials for team reports, conferences, and board meetings, including assistance with PowerPoint presentations; request annual journal reports and monitor schedule.
  • Handle general enquiries from within Springer and from external partners, especially external editors and authors.
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues across departments to coordinate production, editorial office, marketing, conferences, and deadlines.
  • Respond to routine enquiries from customer services.
  • Work with internal databases and other software to track projects across journals.

About the Role

Our team of seven publishersis responsible fora portfolio of over 50 English-language scientific journals in the fields of genetics, biophysics,bioengineeringand biotechnology. The Publishing Assistant provides a vital role in supporting the internal publishing team by handling a variety of non-strategic matters.

As well as providing core support to the in-house team, the role involves building excellent working relationships with external Editors as well as with other internal teams such as production, journal editorialofficeand other supporting teams.

The successful candidate must be flexible, able to prioritize,organizeand coordinate work assignments, and able todeterminethe most efficient way toaccomplisheach task.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Handle non-strategic matters tomaintainscholarly journals: prepare new agreements, update internal systems, request payments, andmaintainother journal records.

  • Working with internal databases and other software to track projects across a portfolio of journals

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously and responsibly

  • Very strongcomputer skillsrequired, particularly in MS 365 applications, such as Word, Excel,PowerPointand Teams

  • Ability and interest to learn company-specific systems and workflows

Desirable

  • Degree in biological or clinical science (or similar)
