Job summary

Dorset Council in Dorchester is seeking a Procurement Officer (Commercial & Procurement) on a temporary basis to support a busy procurement programme. You will join a 15-strong team working across estates, highways, planning and environment to deliver compliant, value-for-money procurement solutions.

The role is hands-on, requires NEC4/JCT knowledge, framework call-offs, and strong stakeholder engagement. Immediate start, 37 hours per week with flexible working; contract initially 4–6 months

Qualifications

• Public sector procurement experience essential.
• Delivery from inception to contract award.
• Ability to manage multiple procurements.
• Strong knowledge of procurement legislation.
• Experience with e-procurement platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end procurement processes.
• Develop sourcing strategies and route-to-market.
• Prepare tenders and evaluation methods.
• Engage with commissioners and managers.
• Ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records.
• Provide procurement advice.
• Support multiple projects concurrently.
