Job summary

Westminster City Council is seeking a Litigation Solicitor to join its Employment, Criminal and Commercial Litigation team. You will advise and provide services to Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea Councils on a wide range of matters, managing high-profile cases across civil and criminal courts, tribunals, inquiries and related proceedings.

You will draft statements of case, applications and witness statements, interview witnesses and supervise Counsel and external solicitors as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to draft clear and accurate legal advice, pleadings or statements of case
• Experience managing a caseload independently
• Strong understanding of employment, criminal and commercial litigation procedures

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload across employment, criminal or commercial/licensing matters
• Draft and collate statements of case, applications, notices and witness statements
• Instruct and manage Counsel and external solicitors
• Negotiate with parties and draft reports ensuring professional obligations are met
• Provide accurate legal advice and risk assessment to the Councils
