Job summary

A leading international law firm in Birmingham is seeking a Legal Director, Senior Associate or experienced Associate with substantial Government & Public Sector experience. The role focuses on public procurement, subsidy control, grant funding and commercial contracts for government departments and local authorities.

You will work with a broad range of clients, taking responsibility for complex matters, developing trusted client relationships, and contributing to the growth of the practice.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within public procurement, subsidy control, grant funding and/or public sector commercial work.
• Understanding of central, regional and local government and the environment in which public sector clients operate.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand clients' wider objectives.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex matters and competing deadlines.
• Interest in business development and growing client relationships.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work within a national team.

Responsibilities

• Advise public and private sector clients across government and commercial matters including procurement strategy, subsidy control, grant funding and commercial contracts.
• Draft and negotiate complex procurement documentation and agreements.
• Provide commercially focused advice on high-profile government projects and regeneration initiatives.
• Maintain significant client contact and collaborate with Partners and senior stakeholders.
• Participate in business development and contribute to growing the Government & Public Sector offering.
