Job summary

Opencast is a growing technology consultancy delivering user-centred solutions for government, healthcare and private sector clients. The Business Analyst (Consultant) role combines UK-wide travel with regular on-site work at client sites in major northern and central locations, plus home-working options.

You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams, translate client needs into actionable requirements, and ensure high standards including security approvals and GOV.UK service standards.

Qualifications

• Recent government/public sector experience and/or delivering complex digital services to GOV.UK standards.
• Apply business analysis techniques (SWOT, 5 Whys) to understand context, processes and systems; evaluate options and make recommendations.
• Elicit, analyse, validate and prioritise business and user requirements using BPMN, wireframes and data analysis.
• Define epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements; maintain traceability and prioritisation.
• Use modelling, process improvement and systems analysis to represent organisations, processes, relationships, and systems; identify gaps and improvements.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate clearly across audiences; adapt messaging as needed.
• Analyse and prioritise user experience needs; present insights in a data-informed way.
• Support testing by defining business scenarios and acceptance criteria; review prototypes and test plans.
• Deliver to GOV.UK Service Standards in large, complex organisations.
• Work in multidisciplinary Agile teams and validate process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver meaningful client solutions.
• Translate client needs into clear, actionable requirements and maintain stakeholder alignment.
• Ensure work complies with Opencast policies and client standards across projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Lead BA activities across requirements, epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Support testing with defined scenarios and acceptance criteria, reviewing outcomes.
• Present complex information accessibly to technical and non-technical audiences.
