Job summary

Incubator for AI (i.AI) is seeking a Principal Applied AI Engineer to set the technical strategy for Applied AI delivery and lead a portfolio of products reaching national scale. The role demands steering cross-stream work, mentoring leaders, and aligning with government priorities.

Ideal candidates have a track record of frontier AI leadership, deep expertise in ML/DL or full-stack engineering, and a strong network across tech and public sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical direction of frontier AI products or delivery of frontier AI solutions.
• Ability to ship products that transform departments, sectors or policy areas.
• Strong networks across the tech sector with public sector exposure preferred.
• Deep expertise in Entrepreneurship, ML/DL or Full Stack Engineering and ability to work across the other two.
• Proven track record of world-class technical leadership attracting top talent.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategy for Applied AI delivery and define goals across product work streams.
• Lead execution of a portfolio of products reaching national scale.
• Identify talent gaps and coordinate required hires.
• Mentor and coach the next generation of AI engineering principals.
• Own a major platform or tool and advise on long-term technical strategy.
