PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic PR Coordinator to join our Communication Department. You will play a crucial role in pioneering and driving our external relations and amplifying our voice. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of PR strategies and an interest in international development and advocacy.

Responsibilities:

·Development and coordination of the external communications function for Medical Mission Sisters (MMS), in dialogue with the Society Leadership Team (SLT) and the Society Communications Coordinator (SCC).

·Initiation, maintenance, and development of media relations and PR strategies and campaigns

Duties:

·To create, edit, and update promotional material and publications

·To maintain and leverage the Society’s social media presence

·To manage the Society’s centralwebsite, with overall responsibility for conceptualisation, design/redesign, and collection, population, and updating of content, in consultation with the SLT

·To organize PR events including open days and press conferences

·To distribute press releases prepared by the SLT, and collaborate in their preparation

·To deal with enquiries from the media and any external parties, in consultation with the SLT

·To manage reputation risks and craft timely responses to mitigate potential PR challenges

·To support the efforts of the Society Fundraiser and fundraising team in developing partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising

·To track media coverage, monitor media trends, and create an internal press review

·To collaborate and maintain open communications with leadership and internal departments (including SCC, co-mission teams, fundraising, secretariate, and archives)

·To prepare and submit annual PR accountability and progress reports

·To attend, by invitation, some Society (MMS) meetings and assemblies

Essential Person Specification:

·Previous experience of PR work and a recognized PR or PR-related qualification

·Outstanding communication, interpersonal and writing skills (English)

·Proficiency in using and managing media platforms and digital communication tools, including Microsoft Office and other applications, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud

·Ability to work well with others and within an international team-based framework

·Flexibility and a willingness to learn

·Initiative and proactivity

·Creativity and an open mind for pioneering projects in PR

·Excellent organisational and time management skills

·Ability to work well under pressure

·An interest and openness to be familiarized with the Medical Mission Sisters and their ethos and culture, the Church, and religious life

·An interest in international advocacy work

Other Details:

Reporting Line: To the SLT Link for Communication

Contract Type: Part-time position, minimum of 20 hours weekly

Duration: Begins with a 12-month contract with a three-month probationary period

Flexibility: Working hours pattern and hybrid working arrangement can be negotiated

Salary and Benefits: £31,000 - £35,000 per annum (FTE) pro rata for 20 hours/week
