Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a NLGV Driver Operative on a six‑month contract to support Civic Pride environmental services in Grays. You will drive non-HGV vehicles and carry out street cleansing, environmental maintenance and public realm improvement across the borough.

You will work outdoors in all weather, perform daily checks, and keep records. A full UK driving licence is essential, with reliability, teamwork and a flexible approach. Bi‑weekly pay applies.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Experience in manual labour, environmental services, street cleansing or grounds maintenance.
• Experience driving light commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable and flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Drive NLGV vehicles and operate cleansing equipment.
• Carry out street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties.
• Remove litter, fly-tipping and environmental waste.
• Empty litter and dog waste bins.
• Operate mechanical sweepers and other cleansing equipment.
• Undertake manual labour and outdoor duties in all weather conditions.
• Complete vehicle safety inspections and daily checks.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed.
• Support environmental and public realm improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
• Work effectively as part of a team to maintain public spaces.
