Wrexham Council is seeking an experienced contaminated land specialist to support our Public Protection Service on a flexible, casual basis. This role will provide expert input into multi‑agency groups addressing landfill odour, contaminated land, illegal waste activity and wider environmental public protection issues.
Working alongside the Lead Officer, you will contribute specialist technical advice, support programmed and reactive interventions, and help shape policy, reports and evidence relating to contaminated land. The role also involves assisting with public relations activity, including clear communication with residents, partners and elected members, and supporting the service at internal and external meetings.
Due to demand that may increase and decrease over the next 12 months, we are seeking a candidate able to work on a casual basis. The anticipated commitment is approximately one day per week, but this will vary depending on workload and can be arranged flexibly around the individual’s commitments.
For an informal discussion about how this arrangement will work, please contact Roger Mapleson (roger.mapleson@wrexham.gov.uk) or Toby Zorn (toby.zorn@wrexham.gov.uk).
