Are you a Public Liaison Officer looking to join our team in Southern UK region?

Founded in 1968, Griffiths are a sustainable Construction Contractor that helps connect communities through delivering Road, Rail, Water, and Utilities projects. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Public Liaison officer to join the team in Portsmouth. This will be part-time position over a 20-hour contract and you will cover projects in Portsmouth and the Hampshire regions. The role will manage key relationships with the company’s neighbours, stakeholders, and the wider community throughout the lifecycle of our projects.

We are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Southampton, Southsea, Havant, Waterlooville, Gosport, Cosham, Fareham, Port Solent, Portchester, Hayling Island, Bognor Regis, Chichester, Petersfield, Worthing, Eastleigh, Lymington, Lyndhurst.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITY

As a Public Liaison Officer , you will report directly to Future Generations Team within the SHEQ Department and work closely with the scheme project managers.

On a day-to-day basis, the successful Public Liaison Officer duties and responsibilities will include (not exhaustive) the following:

  • Develop, implement and manage community liaison, customer care and communication plans
  • Liaise with all key stakeholders including emergency services, local council/councillors and attending stakeholder forums
  • Keep all businesses and stakeholders informed of upcoming works and proposals including traffic management and parking restrictions
  • Take a lead in the preparation, recording and distribution of community engagement materials
  • Work a string working relationship with the site and Future Generations team to identify potential issues and risks
  • Develop and maintain an effective site visit programme and identify opportunities to showcase performance internally and externally
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be a Public Liaison Officer who can demonstrate an ability to understand, empathise and work closely with a local community with a diverse range of issues relating to the development of a major highway scheme.

Furthermore, you should be able to possess strong analytical and problem solving skills, show proficiency Computer in Microsoft Office and have a full driving licence and be able to pass a DBS check.

Although not essential, if you have experience working in the construction industry or working on civil engineering/building infrastructure projects, are a member of CIPR (or equivalent) and have a CSCS card, this would be highly beneficial.
