Job summary

HAB Law is seeking a Public Law Children Solicitor Team Leader to join the Care team. The role focuses on supervising a district of solicitors and paralegals, managing complex public law children matters, and ensuring regulatory and legal aid compliance.

You will mentor junior staff and contribute to the department’s growth. Applicants should have 3–5 years PQE in public law children, strong advocacy, and experience with CCMS.

Qualifications

• Member of the Law Society's Children Law Accreditation Scheme (essential) or Family Law Accreditation Scheme (desirable).
• Minimum 3–5 years PQE in public law children matters with extensive experience managing complex cases.
• Experience in private law children matters (desirable).
• Previous management and/or team leadership experience.
• Experience working within the legal aid framework, including use of the CCMS portal.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of Solicitors, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants.
• Manage your own caseload of public law matters.
• Monitor and support the team’s professional development and training needs.
• Undertake advocacy and representation in court where appropriate.
• Fully instruct counsel, agents, and experts when required.
• Ensure compliance with court orders, time recording, and case management policies.
• Provide clear legal advice and progress cases.
• Contribute to departmental planning, audits and business development.
