Job summary

Staffordshire County Council’s Public Health Team within the Health and Care Directorate seeks to embed a culture of research to ground local decision-making in robust evidence. The role focuses on preventing ill health and reducing health inequities across Staffordshire’s residents, with responsibility to enhance research skills and connect with regional and national networks.

The position is full-time, fixed-term for 18 months, with part-time consideration.

Qualifications

• First degree or equivalent in a relevant subject with research experience.
• Experience of conducting research, ideally on wider determinants of health.
• Ability to work autonomously in complex environments with multiple targets.

Responsibilities

• Embed a culture of research to inform local public health decisions.
• Foster development of research skills, processes, capacity, and infrastructure across the team.
• Build collaborative relationships with county council, stakeholders, and academic networks to promote equity-sensitive research.
