Calderdale’s Public Health Team, nominated in 2021 for the MJ Award Public Health Team of the Year, sits at the heart of the Council in the Chief Executive’s Directorate. It has recently restructured to a People and Places focus, informed by the team’s own vision for recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a team that is driven to improve the health and wellbeing of the residents of Calderdale.

To support the successful delivery of the ‘We’re All Active Calderdale’ programme funded through Sport England, contributing to addressing and tackling physical activity and health inequalities. Working in a defined geographical locality (North Halifax) you will support the development of community led projects and initiatives to make being active easy, accessible and inspiring for residents. Working with communities you will develop, manage and monitor the impact of community led projects for physical activity. You will work in partnership with a wide range of people, organisations and services, enabling partners to play their part in supporting communities to be physically active through a joined-up and collaborative approach.

You will have experience of working in and with communities, co-designing projects will local people and empowering communities to make positive change in support of improved health and wellbeing. You will have experience of initiating, managing and monitoring the difference and impact community led projects make.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong influencing and communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be experienced at working collaboratively with a wide range of people, organisations and services. You will have a positive can do attitude and be a strong team member.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
