A local government authority in the UK is offering a Public Health Practitioner apprenticeship. This role includes working in the Public Health team while studying towards a BSc in Public Health. Candidates will gain hands-on experience in health improvement and public health initiatives, while also receiving comprehensive training and development opportunities. The position is a fixed-term contract lasting 36 months, starting in January 2026.

About the Team:
The Public Health team sits within the Council’s Integrated Health and Care directorate. The team is dynamic and collaborative, covering a wide range of functions including health improvement, health protection, sexual health, children and young people, health intelligence, substance misuse, and more.

If you’re interested in playing a part in improving the health and wellbeing of local communities whilst gaining qualifications to support the development of your public health career, then this is the role for you. Lambeth are offering an exciting new apprenticeship combining study alongside day-to-day working within the Public Health team as a Public Health Practitioner Apprentice (Level 6).
The apprenticeship will lead to a degree qualification (Public Health BSc) as well as providing an opportunity for the candidate to pursue a career in Public Health. During the apprenticeship, the candidate will work in Lambeth Council’s Public Health team, gaining experience of a range of Public Health functions, such as prevention of ill health, health surveillance, and health protection whilst working with numerous teams.

Training and Development:
Alongside working in Lambeth Council’s Public Health team, the successful candidate will undertake and complete a BSc Public Health from a pre-selected university. At least one working day each week will be spent studying/attending university courses.
Contract Details:
This position is a fixed-term contract, starting in January 2026, with a duration of 36 months or 36 months + 3 months for completion of the End Point Assessment.
