Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

Aneurin Bevan Gwent Public Health Team is looking to appoint a highly motivated, adaptable and experienced individual to join the team on a permanent basis . The post holder will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a range of public health and health promotion programmes in line with agreed local and national priorities. Specifically, the post holder will deliver key actions set out in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s Integrated Medium-Term Plan in partnership with all sectors, including working with local communities and partner organisations in order to improve health and address health inequalities. This will require a degree of flexibility to cover the breadth of work that the team is involved in delivering along with project management, good communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-motivated professional to join our Local Public Health Team in Aneurin Bevan, working across the five counties of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.

The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of partnership programmes and initiatives to promote health and wellbeing across all sectors and in line with agreed local and national priorities. The key focus of this role is to address those risk factors that contribute to premature mortality and reduce the inequities which persist.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Education and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of public health field acquired through relevant degree, supplemented by specialist public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, extended courses and experience to post graduate diploma level equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of the health policy context for NHS and local partners Health determinants
  • Knowledge of one or more health promotion programme areas

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of CPD
  • Registered, or working towards Practitioner Registration, with the UK Public Health Register

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of post graduate work
  • Experience of working with a range of partner organisations relevant to health improvement
  • Experience in establishing new initiative

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in Public Health/Health Promotion
