We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Health Nurse to join our team at HMP Altcourse, a category B prison located in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool.

This is a rotational RGN role within a busy remand prison. You will be expected to cover medication administration, triage, and emergency care alongside your role as Public Health Nurse. This is a crucial role within the team, with exposure to various different areas of healthcare.

Hours:

This role is offered on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are on a rotational basis, including weekends, nights, and bank holidays. Example shifts are:

  • 07:00 - 20:00
  • 08:00 - 21:00
  • 09:00 - 22:00
  • 19:45 - 07:30

Salary:

This position is full time, with an annual salary up to £40,211 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Public Health Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working within Public Health, Triage, and Meds - a very varied role!
  • Leading on prevention, promotion, and protection of our prison communities
  • Leading health promotion activities, delivering proactive clinics and awareness campaigns, and providing health promotion and disease prevention advice
  • Conducting IPC audits and training on site
  • Ensuring the effective and consistent delivery of national screening programmes, health checks, screening, and recording public health activity
