Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an experienced Public Health Manager to lead the Building Blocks and Health Policy portfolio within the Public Health team. You will manage a small team handling planning, housing and transport aspects, while working with housing, planning, economic development and other delivery functions to improve neighbourhood health.

Flexible working arrangements are offered as part of a supportive and collaborative team environment in a large rural/urban county.

Qualifications

Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion or related field.
Knowledge and understanding of the main health inequalities in Northumberland.
Proven track record of adapting and applying public health skills to priorities and settings.
Specialist knowledge of health improvement and wider determinants of health.
Experience at multi-agency partnership working.
Experience supervising staff, including training and development.

Responsibilities

Lead the Building Blocks team responsible for planning, housing and transport elements.
Collaborate with Public Health Team and other council functions.
Drive public health actions addressing wider determinants of health.
