Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an experienced Public Health Manager to lead the Building Blocks team within the Public Health portfolio. You will drive planning, housing and transport initiatives, working with cross-council partners to reduce health inequalities and strengthen communities.

You will bring substantial public health experience, lead a small team, and supervise staff development, ensuring high-quality delivery across a diverse county with urban and rural areas.

Qualifications

• Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion or related field.
• Knowledge of the main health inequalities in Northumberland and the social determinants of health.
• Proven track record of applying public health skills across priorities and settings.
• Specialist knowledge of health improvement and wider determinants of health including community approaches.
• Experience of multi-agency partnership working.
• Experience supervising staff, including training, workload management and wellbeing support.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Building Blocks team, overseeing planning, housing and transport elements.
• Collaborate with the Public Health Team and other council directorates to deliver healthy neighbourhoods.
• Apply public health evidence to priorities and programmes across the portfolio.
• Support staff development, performance management and wellbeing within the team.

# Public Health Manager## Job InformationWe require an experienced Public Health Manager to work in the Public Health team (Building Blocks and Health Policy portfolio).
