About the Team & Role:
You would be joining the Public Health and Communities Hub. We are a team committed to making a difference to the health and wellbeing of residents, and places and communities, to enable people to live healthy lives and reduce inequalities.
As a Public Health Manager, you will work flexibly as part of our Wider Leadership Team to lead the initiation and delivery of programmes of work to meet the Hub’s strategic objectives; taking responsibility for delivering given portfolio areas and statutory commitments, which will change over time in line with business need. The initial portfolio area will be complex lives and vulnerable individuals, overseeing the commissioning of community and accommodation-based support services and contributing to improving outcomes for individuals experiencing multiple disadvantage.
You will take the strategic lead on commissioning activity, enabling and influencing across the system to achieve agreed outcomes, based on an understanding of local needs and assets, and evidence of what works. You will also lead work to support the Hub’s corporate responsibilities around finance, performance, and risk.

About You:
Our ideal candidate will have senior management or leadership experience gained in a commissioning environment, and experience of working on the determinants of health, for example, housing, environmental health, health and social care and/or public health.
They will have proven leadership skills, a track record in building effective relationships with system partners and communities, and the skills and resilience to manage a complex, fast-paced workload. You will also need political awareness, and the credibility and communication skills to represent the team within the Council and with our external stakeholders.

The Public Health and Communities Hub supports the Council’s Agile working policy and expects team members to work an average of two days per working week in the office, which is based in central Gloucester, and to attend 'in person' meetings as and when required. New starters will be required to come into the office more often in their first 3 weeks for induction.
