Public Mental Health Lead

Hybrid, office based (Twickenham and Wandsworth) and home working

The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth are home to an award-winning Public Health Team—and we’re looking for a dynamic Public Health Lead to join us. This is a fixed-term contract for 18 months.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Lead the development of a borough-wide public mental health strategy for Wandsworth.
  • Drive cross-council collaboration, identifying and embedding programmes that improve mental wellbeing.
  • Champion mental wellbeing impact assessments across policies and services.
  • Work with NHS and voluntary sector partners to maximise the reach and impact of mental health initiatives.

You’ll also support the local suicide prevention strategy, shape strategic commissioning plans, and provide expert public health advice on high-impact projects.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Brings vision, creativity, and leadership to public health challenges.
  • Has a strong track record of partnership working across sectors.
  • Is passionate about reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for vulnerable communities.
