As a Public Health Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing, evaluating, and interpreting data from a range of sources, to inform the development of public health programmes, statutory reports and publications. You will have a key role in developing the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), the Director of Public Health Annual Report and other health needs assessments for London Borough of Haringey and London Borough of Islington. You will develop data reports on communities in Islington and Haringey and support the implementation of interactive Islington Insights and Intelligence dashboard.
Working with your team, you will compile indicator data packs to inform partnership programmes of work, for example for Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. You will also provide oversight of surveillance and data analyses produced by assistant Public Health Intelligence Analyst. You will normally split your working days between Islington and Haringey. The role will require a comprehensive understanding of health data, social economic determinants of health and data sources to be able to provide health intelligence advice to other members of the Public Health team, wider colleagues within the Council, and partner agencies (Northern Central London Integrated Care Board, NHS, London borough councils, voluntary section organisations). The role will also require you to lead on in-depth analytical projects to support others within the Public Health team.
The successful candidate will be able to apply a range of statistical techniques for the analysis of data, using MS Office and other software packages required for data analysis and presentation. You will also be able to compile statistical reports and communicate findings to a range of audiences.
The post holder will work strategically with health system partners to ensure the populations health needs are identified and met. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work with professionals from a variety of directorates and organisations. Using your knowledge of public health datasets, you will be able to provide balanced advice and guidance to senior decision makers in a political setting.
You will be responsible for line managing one assistant Health Intelligence Analyst, overseeing their work and guiding their personal development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure. Experience of working with NHS organisations, GPs and the voluntary sector would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities
The post holder will join Islington's Public Health Knowledge, Intelligence and Performance team (KIP) consisting of Public Health Analysts, Public Health Information Officers, and Assistant Officers. The Public Health KIP team delivers public health intelligence for Islington and Haringey, and an intelligence and performance function for the Islington Housing and Adult Social Care teams. The remit of the team is to collect and synthesise health and social economic determinants of health into insights that underpins policy decisions to improve population health and reduce inequalities.
The post holder will research, analyse, review and publish health related information, contributing to a wide spectrum of public health work such as needs assessments, health equity audits, health impact assessments and analysis of health service utilization.
The post holder will work closely with the wider Islington & Haringey Public Health Department, other stakeholders in the Local Authorities and the North Central London Commissioning Group, and other partner organisations within the local health economy.
The post holder will support the knowledge, intelligence and performance team in providing an efficient, effective and timely data analysis function for key stakeholders.
