Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Public Health Engineering Apprentice, we'll count on you to:

• Assist experienced engineers in the public health design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry.
• Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production.
• Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design.
• Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages.
• Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications, including a degree apprenticeship.
• Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice.
• Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines.
• Maintain a training log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience.
• Attend relevant training as required by the practice.
• Attend Lunch time CPD’s and Knowledge Sharing sessions.
• Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.

Required Qualifications

• Willing to work towards a degree apprenticeship qualification in building services engineering.
• Educated at ideally A-Level, equivalent and above.
• A commitment to a career in Public Health Design Engineering.
• Able to qualify for the government apprenticeship criteria – must not already hold a degree.
• Ability to project a positive, welcoming, and professional attitude at all times.
• Able to work as part of a team collaboratively and cooperatively.
• Attention to detail, diligent at all times and a proactive attitude.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to take direction and report progress on your work with others.
• Be driven and proactive with ability to work autonomously on occasion.
• A personable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
• Competency in MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint is desired.
• Be organised and comfortable juggling multiple work streams.
• Good administration skills with ability to multi-task.
