Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking an Assistant Practitioner (CYP IAPT) to join the Public Health Nursing Service in Somerset. You will work under guidance to provide early support to children and families, with a funded CYP IAPT university place starting January 2027.

The role is 37 hours per week, locality-based with travel across Somerset and to Exeter for university study. You'll develop practical health promotion activities, contribute to assessments, and progress to CYP IAPT Infant Strand while

Qualifications

• Relevant Level 4 qualification in health, social care, education, youth work or related field.
• Experience with children, young people or families and building positive relationships.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with children, young people and families.
• Deliver one-to-one and group interventions under supervision.
• Support healthy child programme and Public Health Nursing pathways.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and manage workload.
• Escalate safeguarding concerns as required.
• Collaborate with schools, Family Hubs, health services and partners.
• Participate in supervision, team meetings and mandatory training.
