Job summary

Avon and Somerset Police is seeking an Event Safety & Planning Advisor to join a small team within our operational planning function. You’ll work with event industry partners to advise event planners across sporting, festival, car shows, music, firework displays and farmers markets to ensure safe and secure delivery.

Based in Somerset, the role focuses on leading safety and security aspects of event planning, representing the force at key planning meetings, building partnerships, and guiding

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in events planning (must have hands-on involvement).
• Strong communication to liaise with internal staff and multi-agency partners.
• Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
• Experience in following policy and/or procedure.
• Computer literate and able to use standard software systems.
• Desirable: full driving licence and willingness to travel within the force area.

Responsibilities

• Represent Police at Safety Advisory Groups, site meetings and multi-agency meetings, providing policing guidance.
• Review Event Management Plans and related documents, advising event organisers and the policing family.
• Build good working relationships with external partners when assessing events.
• Represent the force at stakeholder meetings and manage expectations of the Police role for successful event delivery.
• Keep abreast of evolving legislation or regulations affecting local events.
