Job summary

Avon and Somerset Police is seeking an Event Safety & Planning Advisor to join our operational planning team in Somerset. You will advise event organisers, engage with partners and agencies, and lead safety and security aspects of event planning to deliver safe and well-coordinated occasions for communities.

You will represent the force in Safety Advisory Groups and at multi‑agency meetings, build strong relationships, review Event Management Plans, stay updated on relevant regulations, and

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in events planning.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Influencing and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to follow policy and procedures.
• Computer literate.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel within the Avon and Somerset force area.

Responsibilities

• Representing the Police at Safety Advisory Groups, site meetings and multi‑agency meetings.
• Reviewing Event Management Plans and other documents, offering guidance to event organisers and the policing family.
• Building working relationships with external partners when assessing events.
• Representing the force at stakeholder meetings and managing expectations of the Police role to enable delivery of planning guidance.
• Keeping abreast of evolving legislation or regulations relating to local events.
