Job description

Job Description

We are delighted to be partnering with the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) to recruit a Public Affairs Manager at a pivotal time for the organisation and the wider clean transport sector.

The MCIA represents manufacturers, importers, accessory suppliers, and service providers in the Powered Light Vehicle (PLV) industry - which includes motorcycles, scooters, trikes, and quadricycles. As the UK moves toward net zero, PLVs are an increasingly important part of the clean transport conversation. MCIA plays a central role in shaping the policy and regulatory environment to support the growth of this sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a public affairs professional to drive MCIA's engagement with political and regulatory stakeholders in Westminster and Whitehall. Working closely with the CEO and Director of Policy & Public Affairs, you'll help raise the profile of the sector, influence policy outcomes, and support members in navigating change.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead MCIA's political engagement strategy across UK Government and Parliament.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including MPs, government departments, and advisers.
  • Monitor policy and legislative developments affecting the industry.
  • Draft briefings, consultation responses, letters, and parliamentary correspondence.
  • Represent MCIA at meetings, roundtables, and political events.
  • Support campaigns and external communications that promote the industry's contribution to economic growth, transport decarbonisation, and active travel.

About you:We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience working in a public affairs, parliamentary, or policy role - either in-house, in an agency, or in a political setting.
  • Excellent political awareness and understanding of UK policymaking.
  • First-rate written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • An interest in transport, innovation, or clean growth is desirable but not essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected trade association at the heart of a fast-changing and high-profile policy area. You'll have real autonomy, visibility, and the chance to make a meaningful impact whilst working with high-profile members.
