Job summary

UK Finance’s Public Affairs and Public Policy team, part of our Corporate Affairs function, offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of politics, public policy and financial services. You will help understand and respond to the fast-moving political environment and support engagement with Parliament, government and political stakeholders.

Joining an experienced team, you will monitor political developments, support political engagement, and contribute to advocacy campaigns while gaining

Qualifications

  • An understanding of UK politics, Parliament and government processes.
  • Experience in politics, Parliament, public affairs, government or related environment.
  • Ability to identify matters in a busy news/policy environment.
  • Strong written communication, concise and clear.
  • Confidence in building relationships and working with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to ownership of tasks and escalation when needed.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
  • Curiosity about financial services and economy.
  • Collaborative approach within a busy team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse political developments, including government announcements and parliamentary activities relevant to UK Finance.
  • Provide clear political intelligence for colleagues and members to inform priorities.
  • Research and prepare for meetings with parliamentarians and ministers.
  • Support public affairs campaigns and development of engagement strategies.
  • Track legislation and prepare briefings/advocacy materials.
  • Build and maintain political relationships across Westminster and parties.
  • Prepare public affairs materials and stakeholder communications.
  • Support events and engagement programmes, including parliamentary roundtables and conferences.
  • Contribute to wider Public Affairs and Public Policy work as priorities develop.
