Job Description

To legally and safely undertake driving duties associated with category D1 driving licence restrictions (Maximum passenger carriage 16 pax), to provide essential education, Community, Demand Response and Fixed route services including Non-emergency hospital patient transfers throughout Moray.

Deliver service obligations which meet awarded Contract terms and conditions. Operate to standards as directed by PTU Public Transport Officer and Coordinator. Provide excellent customer service, taking into consideration mobility, health and social isolation issues.

Requirements

Transport school pupils safely to and from school while maintaining good standards of discipline, ensuring pupils are safe and comfortable.

Transport Disabled, Elderly, and Vulnerable adults safely to and from Community group Centres, Demand response, or fixed route Services. Assist non-emergency patients from hospital discharge point to destination, which requires a degree of patient assistance returning home.

Ensure wheelchairs, walking aids, and other passenger items are stowed and secured safely, providing support and assistance to all passengers if requested. Manual movement and handling of passengers in wheelchairs using the correct restraints to secure wheelchairs while being transported.

Drive all vehicle types within licence parameters that are owned, managed, and operated on behalf of the Moray Council in a safe and courteous manner. Report all accidents or incidents as directed in service policy to your Line Manager.

Understand and operate all equipment fitted to the vehicle competently. Conduct routine vehicle and equipment daily walk round checks and complete defect reporting as directed in service policy and procedures. Accurately complete all paperwork and documentation associated with service vehicles.

Attend regular planned training events in accordance with legal and service need requirements.

Operate IT platforms to enable the use of on-vehicle ticket machines systems or dial bus software to access Runsheet's and prepare routes.

The Individual

Proven driving experience.

Ability to complete driver walk round safety checks on vehicles.

Driving licence with category D1 entitlement.

Able to work on own initiative and to deadlines.

Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and equipment checks.

Ability to complete vehicle log sheets and other vehicle documentation.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Ability to work unsupervised and carry out physical duties including assisting wheelchair passengers.

Cash handling and manual handling skills.

Protecting customer/client data.

Excellent timekeeping.

Flexible and adaptable.

Ability to communicate with school pupils, client groups, and members of the general public.

Caring, friendly, and courteous manner.

Ability to undertake routine vehicle cleaning.

Ability to assist clients when boarding and alighting the vehicle, including wheelchair passengers.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Shift pattern covering a 6 day working week rotating through an am/pm shift, inclusive of 1 Saturday in a 3 week cycle.

Basic Hours per week: 19.50

Enhanced Hours per week: 3

Total hours per week: 22.50

Starting salary: £25,512.24 pro rata
